A day trip to the Kaluga region on the route Moscow - Kolomna - Serpukhov - village Borovensk - Moscow. The total mileage of 693 kilometers per day. The purpose of the trip - places associated with the life of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
Early departure from Moscow and a half hours later I was at the old park-Golutvina monastery, one of the many monasteries that have arisen as a result of selfless activity of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The monastery is located on the outskirts of Kolomna, near the confluence of the Oka river Moscow. Founded at the end of the XIV century.
The monastery is remarkable towers in the Gothic style, but the inside I did not like, seemed not comfortable and there is nothing good I did not take off:
Next stop outside Moscow, Serpukhov, where the high bank of the Nara River near its confluence with the Oka, is attractively located an ancient monastery - Serpukhov Vysotsky Monastery. The basis of the blessing of St. Sergius of Radonezh in 1374 Serpukhov prince Vladimir the Bold, the cousin and companion of the great Prince Dmitry Ivanovich Donskoy:
The Gate bell tower of the temple of the Three Saints and Intercession Church:
In contrast to the Monastery in Kolomna, then I really liked it. On the territory reigns very umirotvaryayuschaya atmosphere.
Burials at the monastery:
Chic vaulted passage under the porch of the Cathedral of the Conception:
The monastery garden:
The last place on this trip was the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary lived out his life in the village Borovensk. Before the abolition in 1764 there was a Borovensky Monastery, founded in the XV century, a disciple of St. Sergius of Radonezh elder Ferapont:
The Cathedral is very large and beautiful, we would like to see it in its heyday, full of people, icons and candles, but apparently is not destiny ...
